Content – you either love writing it, or you hate doing it, and there really does not seem to be much in between when it comes to delivering amazing blogs and articles for your website.

There are few other SEO related topics that get people so disheartened as when they realise that for their website to rock some Google socks, they have to produce blogs, case studies, guides and articles, as content is what the search engines want. Little matters more it would seem than fresh, unique and quality content to keep the little spidering bots happy as they crawl your website and the send these amazing pages back to Google for indexing.

So, if you hate it, won’t do it, can’t do it or really just have no inclination to do it, here are some top tips to make content writing just that little bit easier.

Plan Ahead Of Time

So, you give yourself an hour to write a blog. You make a cup of coffee, grab a sneaky biscuit or two, sit down in front of your computer but your mind goes blank. You think and think and think, but you just cannot find a title you like, so you head off to Facebook or take care of something else, and another day goes by with no blog. If this sounds like you, then you are not alone, all of us have been there at some point, but the good news is that this scenario is totally avoidable. The first thing you need to do is plan your titles well in advance, so by keeping a spreadsheet going, you can quickly add the titles and some notes (which we discuss in a second) when they pop into your mind. This means that when the time comes you have some space to write and let your creative juices flow, you don’t need to really think of what to write, you just have to deal with writing it, which is so much easier if you have planned ahead of time.

Make Detailed Notes

When it comes to writing a blog and having the time to sit down and actually write it in detail, if you have already made some bullet point notes when you came up with your idea during your planning sessions, then half the battle is already complete. Writers block happens to all of us, so by having small notes next to the titles you have proposed makes this issue avoidable, as you already have the main headings and outline written down, so that when the time comes to turn these notes into beautiful content, you are not having to remember why you came up with the title and also what you wanted the blog or guide to contain and cover.

Every Day Presents An Opportunity

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing and with the many questions you will get asked as a business, every day you will be presented with many opportunities for content titles, but you will probably just overlook them or ignore them. As a business owner, every meeting you have will chuck a title at you, every bit of work you do could become a simple how to, or something that you have recently completed could become a great case study. Make sure you take notice of all of these things, as these could be content ideas that are so simple the whole thing starts to look just that little bit easier.

Give Yourself Time

Unless you are used to writing blogs, you are not going to be able to knock your month’s content up in a few hours, so the worst thing you can do is to set yourself an unrealistic writing time and then get deflated and downhearted when you have not met your goals. You need to make sure you give yourself enough time to sit down and write an amazing blog, and you also need to give yourself the right environment as well, otherwise you will either not manage to complete it correctly, or it will be, to be fair, rubbish, and therefore no point in writing it in the first place. So, give yourself time and make sure your environment for writing is the best place for you to be.

Do Not Beat Yourself Up

Let’s be honest about things for a second, we are talking about writing content, we are not talking about life and death, so if your blog is not 100% amazing the first few times you try, or, if you really do run out of time and have to delay your blog, do not beat yourself up, do not breakdown and do not let it take over your mind to a point where it ruins your day. Whilst I admit I bang on about the need to blog, it should never be something that makes you worry, or feel sick about doing, so if you feel this way then employ a content writer to help you, as we all outsource things in our daily lives and business lives and content can be just the same.
